About the event

As part of The Human + AI Advantage, presented by the First State Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, the Prompt-a-Thon gave attendees an opportunity to put AI prompting into practice in a hands-on, interactive format.
Participants worked through real-world workplace scenarios and explored how changes in wording, context, specificity, and structure can improve the quality of AI-generated results. The activity encouraged attendees to test prompts, compare approaches, refine their instructions, and think more critically about how they communicate with AI.
Leilani Decena co-facilitated the Prompt-a-Thon, helping guide participants through practical prompting challenges and demonstrating how stronger instructions can support better outcomes in legal-management and administrative work.
The experience reinforced a key message from the seminar: effective AI use is not simply about accessing the technology. Better results come from clearer thinking, better instructions, appropriate context, human judgment, and knowing when to review or refine an AI-generated response.
